🇺🇸 Memorial Reflections, 🎧 Podcasts for Writers, & 📚 Free Reads

Hi Friend!

Memorial Day weekend is here. I hope that you’re able to spend time with the ones you love, and also reflect and remember those who gave their lives for their country.

This month I’m sharing some of my favorite podcasts for writers. I hope that you’ll find one you enjoy, and if you have a suggestion that isn’t included in my list, please let me know!

My book, You Are Not Alone, will be free on Kindle from May 23 through 26. If you are a military spouse or have a friend who’s a military spouse, and you’re struggling with discouragement, then I hope you’re able to pick up the ebook and find a bit of hope to hold onto in the pages. It's a 30-day devotional, borne from my decades as a military spouse.

I do have another cozy mystery book rec that you won’t want to miss. Please be sure to vote in the poll too. I’d love to offer more freebies for my newsletter subscribers, and I’d like to know what kind of freebies you enjoy the most!

My Favorite Podcasts for Writers

If you spend enough time writing, you realize that the best encouragement comes from hearing other writers talk honestly about the process. Not the polished social media version of writing life, but the real stuff: messy first drafts, self-doubt, publishing frustrations, creative burnout, and the determination to keep going anyway.

Funnily enough, as a writer, I don’t have as much time to read as I’d like, but I do enjoy listening to podcasts and audiobooks while I multitask. I’ll listen while walking my dog, cleaning the kitchen, or trying to convince myself to tackle another revision pass. So I thought I’d share a few of my favorite podcasts for writers.

Free Ebook: You Are Not Alone

Are you a military spouse, or know a military spouse who could use a little encouragement? My book, You Are Not Alone, a 30-day devotional, will be available for free on Kindle from Saturday, May 23 through Tuesday, May 26.

Stories Matter

The Stories Matter anthology is a collection of stories from military and military-affiliated authors. Whether you are seeking inspiration, reflection, or connection, this collection reminds us that every story holds value.

I’m one of the authors who was asked to contribute to this anthology, and I hope that you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed being a part of this amazing project.

Cozy Mystery Book Rec

Allison is the owner of a bakery in Willow Bay, and the police think it was her macarons to blame for the death of a tourist. Now it's up to her to prove that it wasn't her baking by finding the real killer.

If you're looking for a cozy mystery with a side of comedy, then A Murderous Macaron by Fiona Grace is a great option and a wonderful pick-me-up read!

Hi Friend! It seems like things start to get busier once spring arrives, but I hope you've had a chance to enjoy the warmer weather anyway. This month I'm sharing a recent blog post discussing one of my favorite genres, cozy mysteries! Of course, the post also includes some of my favorite book recs too. (And guess what? I've nearly finished the manuscript for my very first cozy myself! More on this soon.) I've included an excerpt from one of my books that I hope will give you a boost of...

Hi Friend! I saw so many mentions online around the holidays of how odd the week between Christmas and New Year is because it feels so "in-between." I think we need to talk about how "in-between" this time of year feels! The holidays are over, but winter's not quite done. There are enough hints of spring that part of you wants to dive into spring projects, but the weather is chilly enough that you're still craving cozy evenings under a fuzzy blanket with a good book.Spring is definitely on...

Hi Friend! Happy New Year! Whether you're sad to see 2025 go, or relieved that it's over, I hope that 2026 holds beautiful moments for you. Sometimes it's hard to be upbeat about the possibilities of a new year because you find yourself in the middle of difficult circumstances. In all honesty, that's where I find myself currently. I've adapted a reading from one of my books that I hope will encourage you in the midst of whatever challenges you face this year. I'm also including a free...
